What I learned today in MS Word

Hello Everyone!!

Today’s Class Topics:

·         Discussed the Syllabus and what is expected of us in class.

·         Discussed how we are to “blog” our progress through class.

·         Keyboard shortcuts were also discussed.

New Keyboard Shortcuts:

Here are a few listed shortcuts:

·         Control L – Left Justify

·         Control E – Center Justify

·         Control R – Right Justify

·         Control B – Bold

·         Control Z – Undo

·         Control Y – Redo

·         Control Q – Quit

Here are two that do not pertain to MS Word, but for the computer and they are quite useful:

·      Window (E) takes you to your computer (used to be My Computer).  The Window Key is located right between the Ctrl and Alt keys on a desktop keyboard, but may be located in a different area on a laptop.  On my Laptop it is on the left side next to the Alt key.

·     Window (D) will go to the Desktop from any open window.   Go ahead and try it and hit it again to bring back up the window you were working in.

New Things I Learned Today:

·     Learned how to turn off the 10 point spacing between paragraphs in a word document.  This is located on the “Home” ribbon under “Paragraph”.

·     Learned that double spaced was originally for drafts to hand into instructors and/or newspaper editors.  This is so that instructors and newspaper editors can have room to make comments for any errors found in the document.

·      Learned how to add a new folder onto our Flash Drive and to organize the Flash Drive to keep it clean and neat.

·       Learned that 72 points equals one inch in Font Size and of course 36 points is a half an inch.

New MS Word Ribbon Item:
As mentioned earlier; the class learned how to turn off the 10 point spacing between paragraphs in Word.  This is done from the Home Ribbon under Paragraph.  Or it can be accomplished by selecting the text (Control “A”) or highlighting the text and right click on the mouse and clicking on “paragraph” and locating spacing on the window and taking it from 10 points to “0” point spacing.
